David Morton has over two decades of experience in instructional design, academic technology, and digital learning innovation. He has developed curriculum for both K–12 and higher education, with a focus on making complex concepts accessible through engaging, technology-enhanced learning experiences. As Director of Science Visualization at Columbia College Chicago, David combined science and art to create media and simulations that helped non-science majors understand challenging scientific ideas. His work extended beyond the classroom, partnering with the Museum of Science and Industry and NSF-funded initiatives to design immersive STEM programs for broader audiences.

In addition to his academic leadership, David is an accomplished cinematographer and photographer with more than 40 years of experience producing commercial, documentary, and educational films. His expertise in visual storytelling and science communication has resulted in award-winning projects, international presentations, and publications on using visualization to improve science education.

David has also led large-scale digital transformations, including a full LMS migration completed in just 14 months, and now manages instructional design teams that support faculty in converting traditional face-to-face courses into high-impact online and hybrid formats. Currently serving as Director of Learning Development and Academic Technology at Northwestern University, he continues to integrate emerging technologies—AI, immersive media, and data visualization—into learning environments that emphasize equity, accessibility, and innovation.
